Whole-Class Script adapted from The Great Kapok Tree

Looking for a whole-class performance piece? Assembly item with a WOW factor?

The Great Kapok Tree, by Lynne Cherry, is a beautiful story about conservation and environmental awareness. Use these resources as part of a text study or as a stand-alone performance piece. The script has been successfully used already in a range of Grade 3 classrooms and the students had an absolute blast! They workshopped their characters in small groups, focusing on physicality, sounds and teamwork.

Included is a 3 page whole-class script adapted from Lynne Cherry's text for performance. There are enough parts for 20+ students with a range of participation levels from the eloquent Narrators to smaller parts with one or two lines. Parts can also be combined or reduced to suit a smaller group of 14 students.

Also included are flashcards for a word wall and a cast list organiser.
