What educators are saying

This is an engaging way to look at the systems behind the food on our table and the impact of invention on the food we eat. While I didn't use all the graphic organizers, they were very useful for the students who work that way.

Description

These materials are designed to teach students about where many of the foods they enjoy every day come from. The first lessons in the unit cover:

  • The Green Revolution
  • How Supermarkets Operate

Following this, students can specialize and learn about one of fourteen different crops products. The reading sheets for each contain information on their histories, growing conditions, production, processing, uses, environmental impact, and finances. Crops/products in the file include:

  • Cacao
  • Bananas
  • Turkeys
  • Beef
  • Potatoes
  • Corn
  • Wheat
  • Rice
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Coffee
  • Sugar
  • Soybeans
  • Peanuts

Project sheets are provided for each crop/product as well as presentations featuring images and movie links. All materials are also available in special formats which can be uploaded to your own google classroom site for remote/distance learning.
