Description

This lesson, and high level thinking and creative activity was created for elementary school students and is great practice to help students understand the concept of what a scientist is, who can be a scientist, what scientists look like and some of the stereotypes that have come to define scientists. This is an extremely popular lesson for students! Students think about and draw common features of scientists and explore how the common and varying features align with real scientists and which features and ideas may be incorrect. Highly engaging, high level thinking activity / lab. Includes “I will” and “We will” daily goals that teachers may post. “I will” and “we will” goal statements are aligned with the fundamental five method of teaching, but will work for any teacher who posts daily class goals or just wants to impress any administrators who walk through their classrooms! High level thinking strategies and practice differentiate for different learning styles. Includes an additional higher-level activity geared for advanced classes or any class that works quickly and needs additional work. Teacher rubric is included at no additional cost! Lesson is aligned with Texas TEKS. Although aligned with Texas State standards this lesson will be a great resource for any curriculum that includes an introduction to science and scientists. Approximately one to two class periods in length. Created by Mr. Givens AKA The Science Guy
