READ

This reading and scientific download is all about eclipses. Students can read about them in three ways:

  • Rebus
  • Reading passage (same as the rebus but without illustrations)

For both, students can do a review that includes sequencing, answering a question, and writing about the reading. The third reading piece included is:

  • Close reading of a quote by Greek lyric poet Archilochus about an ancient eclipse

WRITE

Students can write about an eclipse using one of two templates:

  • Reflection card
  • A report page

CRAFT

  • Cut out a sun and moon to put together an eclipse.

ACTIVITIES

Students can interact with this scientific event through:

  • Zentangle coloring sheet
  • Eclipse coloring sheet
  • Maze
  • Crossword puzzle
  • Word search
  • Grid drawing

This unit study on an eclipse goes well with a study about the sun, moon, space, light, and eclipses.
