Description
Exploring adaptations, hibernation, and migration with students within science lessons can seem difficult, especially with city kids.
The three teacher-made books in this resource offer facts in easy-to-understand language. They are perfect for primary aged learners or ESL students. The teacher books are page sized but could be enlarged at printing, if desired. Student books of the same text are offered in both colored and black ink. Use them as input lessons and utilize the various sortable picture cards and activities for follow up. There are investigations included, as well. Worksheets can round out your study and give some accountability and assessment pieces.
Here’s what’s included:
⭐ 3 Teacher-written books with accompanying student books that are available in colored or black ink. The topics are Adaptation, Hibernation, and Migration.
⭐ Sorting labels and 24 pictured cards of named animals that fit the various categories.
⭐ 4 Posters with simple child-friendly definitions of Hibernation, Migration, Adaptation, and Camouflage.
⭐ 8 examples of pictured animals and 8 pictured habitats of animal hibernation for a lesson on matching or use as a center activity. If your curriculum exposes students to “true hibernators vs. torpors,” there is an optional worksheet included for this.
⭐ 15 examples of camouflage for using before or after the investigation.
⭐ 16 Fact cards to match to 16 pictured cards as ways to engage students in learning various facts about animal adaptations for winter.
⭐ 5 Worksheets offer opportunities to collect content grades, if needed.
⭐ There are 4 maze/spelling puzzles included for fun—offer as rewards if you prefer.
⭐ 3 pages with additional response blanks for students to share new knowledge.

Picture cards for lessons and activities are in colored ink or print in grayscale to save on ink. Student books are available in colored and black ink. Worksheets are only available in black ink. I created activities or tasks with extra wide lines to make cutting easier. Suggestion is to laminate cards and tasks before cutting apart.
