What educators are saying

This was a good supplement to the Lucy Calkins Westward Expansion Unit. Student were very engaged in the slides and we had a lot of fun making up the license plates and web addresses together. I will definitely use this again.

Throughout the US History lessons, the curriculum will analyze how America often struggled as it expanded geographically and developed politically, economically, and socially. Here are some questions that will guide students to think about the key concepts for each unit (see asterisk for unit focus):

Geographic Expansion-In what ways did Americas borders grow in this era? Were borders expanded or maintained via war or treaty?

*Political Development- In what ways were people denied a voice in government? How were rights ensured or limited? To what extent was power divided between the states and the federal government?

*Economic Expansion- In what ways was free enterprise or trade affected in this era? What were the economic opportunities available to citizens? Which types of labor systems were created or used?

*Social and Cultural Development– In what ways did America struggle with inclusion? When were citizens treated equally, or when did they face discrimination?
