Description

This is an opportunity for you and your students to engage with weather directly! Allow them to apply the knowledge you have been teaching in the classroom. Application is the best way to prove understanding.

How it works:

Cut along the dotted lines and glue them into an interactive notebook. Walk through each of the instruments with your students. Then allow them to explain the purpose of each instrument in their own words. Next, you will head outside (you may also stay in) and allow them to practice using these measurement tools and record it in their notebook. It is in black and white so that your students may customize each of their instruments/title page as well!

Weather Instruments included:

  • Thermometer
  • Rain Gauge
  • Barometer
  • Anemometer
  • Wind Vane

A title page is also included. You can view this in the preview.

NGSS4-ESS2-1
Make observations and/or measurements to provide evidence of the effects of weathering or the rate of erosion by water, ice, wind, or vegetation. Examples of variables to test could include angle of slope in the downhill movement of water, amount of vegetation, speed of wind, relative rate of deposition, cycles of freezing and thawing of water, cycles of heating and cooling, and volume of water flow. Assessment is limited to a single form of weathering or erosion.
