Description

This reading unit is based on a 4-week pacing of the classic story, with weekly comprehension questions that can also be given as an assessment or read-along guide. There are a few open ended prompts on some of the assignments for students to respond to as well. The quizzes contain a variety of question types such as multiple choice, one-word fill-in answer, and short answer. Each weekly quiz has 10 questions, with an answer key provided.

For week #5: there is a final "Response to Literature" essay assignment where students prepare for and write an in-class essay based on their chosen prompt. Students get to chose from a list of eight different prompts for their essay. There is an optional rubric for assessing the essays.

The pacing is as follows:

Week 1: Chapters 1-10

Week 2: Chapters 11-17

Week 3: Chapters 18-29

Week 4: Chapters 30- 38

Week 5: Preparation for Essay/In Class Writing
