Washington DC Field Trip Journal Notebook Differentiated
- PDF
Description
This Washington D.C. Notebook is perfect for children and students of all ages who would like to document, scrapbook, draw, write and create memories of their field trip or vacation.
Writing is perfect for synthesizing the learning which takes place through field trips and hands on learning experiences. By having peers edit each other's entries you can integrate language arts, grammar and mechanics. Writing based on educational museums and experiences with and without prompted essay topics further integrates history, social studies and science. The process of journaling and expressing feelings, observations and memories improves social and emotional growth and metacognition while developing and practicing the whole process of writing.
There is a lot of room for teaching and creativity here so you can tailor it for your needs. With 24 pages total in the product, eight are for each differentiated level. You can use a page per day for a full seven day trip or utilize some pages for scrapbooking, exit tickets, opinion writing, compare and contrasts, narratives or project completion. Writing to prompts may also be helpful based on the day's activities and age level of the child. These are just a few of the reflective and educational uses for an open journal like this one.
I've included this on traditional 8.5 X 11 paper size to printing front and back on three different levels, elementary, middle and high school. If you would like to keep the notebook smaller, you can print it out as a booklet on Acrobat Adobe Reader so that pages are half size and may be front and back like a book. There are eight pages, including cover page, for each level.
