Description

In this resource students will learn about what life was like for soldiers living in the trenches during World War One. This is an outstanding resource for helping students become familiar with what soldiers faced on a daily basis during WWI.

In the first step, students will watch a short video on some of the problems soldiers experienced while in the trenches. They will then need to explain why each issue was a problem. Once the students have completed that chart they will rank the problems soldiers faced in the trenches, and then explain which problem they believe was the most important, and which problem they believe was the least important.

Next, the students will watch another short video ( link attached ) discussing the advantages and disadvantages of trench warfare for both the attacking army and the defending army.

Last, students will look at the data chart on the number of casualties for both the allies, and the Germans between 1914-1918. They will answer questions from the chart and then create a bar graph (graph paper attached) that visually represents the data from the table.
