Project options:

  • CLASS ACTIVITY: Have the class work on the project together, contributing to the brainstorming and composing.
  • GROUP ACTIVITY: Break students into groups to collaborate on the activity.
  • INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY: Have students work individually on a song of their own.
  • CROSS-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY: Incorporate another discipline and assign topics to the students. For example, if you are studying the Great Depression, students can write a song about the struggles of living through such a time. You could assign characters from a novel to each student in ELA class, writing a Blues song from the character’s perspective. 

Use this unit in conjunction with BLUES: a BRIEF HISTORY to give students more context.
