How I Use It In My Classroom:

I have used these inventories with my 3rd-8th grade students for years. We do them at the beginning of the year as a Get to Know You Activity. As we complete them together as a class, I explain what the words mean. Once completed, we try to guess who in the class is each personality type-this is always great fun and pretty funny! We use it for discussion about our similarities and differences and how we can work together. We also use it as an opportunity to discuss our cultures and how they are the same and different.

I then have students do one fo the Art activities. After completing the art activity, I have them write the poem to go with it. They then present it all together.

They put the art as their Binder Cover, Cubby Cover, or as an art display with the poems. I display a chart of students’ personalities using findings from this inventory and other inventories. Throughout the year, I often put students into groups based on their personality types, and it is easy for me to see who falls into each category by just glancing at these.
