What educators are saying

My kids and I LOVE This project! I also purchased the Life Cycle of a Pumpkin. I can't wait to purchase more! :)
We made these fans as notes for my students to use to help them with their volcano projects. Such a great tool to help the students review everything they need to know about volcanoes!

Description

Are you teaching a social studies or science unit on the types of volcanoes? Help students identify and understand the different volcanoes! This project guides students through researching composite (or stratovolcano), cinder cone, and shield volcanoes, as well as active, dormant, and extinct volcanoes. Students research, take notes, and publish on the interactive fan pages. This is an awesome report or culminating project for your unit on volcanoes!

This project can be used for:

  • an extension to your social studies or science unit
  • in writing centers
  • as an independent project
  • as group work - students in groups of 6 research one volcano type and collaborate to create the fan

Included in this volcano project:

  • Directions for the teacher
  • Clear note taking sheets with prompts
  • Fans for composite/stratovolcano, cinder cone, shield, active, dormant, and extinct volcanoes
  • Complete answer keys

Process:

Students will use the provided note-taking sheets to research the different volcanoes. They transfer their notes onto the fan pages that look just like the note sheets, make the publishing process simple. Students color the images of volcanoes and fasten the fan together with a metal brad. When done, students have a resource that can be used again and again!
