Description

Add this to your voice therapy arsenal! Teach students all about good vocal hygiene. Then, scroll through the kid-friendly cards to see relatable scenarios regarding voice habits. For each card, students/clients decide whether the voice behavior is healthy or unhealthy by clicking THUMBS UP (healthy) OR THUMBS DOWN (unhealthy).

★ Beyond that, each card has an extra discussion prompt on that require students to tell WHY they chose their answer, give advice to the character on the card, explain a healthy alternative, make a personal connection, or the like.

★ Breaking poor voice habits is HARD, and children can't even begin to practice and apply vocal hygiene (our goal) until their knowledge is well developed and they've heard about vocal hygiene repeatedly. That's just what this boom deck does!

Be sure to view the preview and watch the video preview to see much more! Also, you can play the first 4 cards of this deck HERE.

★ I use this with my clients who have vocal nodules, and I personally do a handful of cards each session and use them as topics for discussion. I also take data regarding the child's knowledge of healthy vs. unhealthy voice behavior while we explore the cards.

TIP: Each week I send home a weekly voice target for the family to focus on (such as drinking more water, taking "voice naps," walking to others to gain their attention, using low volume, refraining from unnatural noises, using a humidifier, etc.)

I hope this helps the children you treat develop healthy voice habits!
