Visual Communication Cards, Translations: 1 English-only + 24 Foreign Languages

These 2550 visual schedule and daily routine communication cards or labels (102 per resource) can be helpful with your new Haitian (Haitian Creole, Haiti), Ukrainian (Ukraine), Russian (Russia), Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French, Indian (India, Hindi), Punjabi/Panjabi (Punjab, India), Chinese (Simplified, Mandarin), Hong Kong (Traditional Chinese, Cantonese), Vietnamese (Vietnam), Afghan (Dari and Pashto), Iranian (Farsi), Italian (Italy), German (Germany), Polish (Poland), Korean (Korea), Turkish (Turkey), Urdu (Pakistan), Hebrew (Israel), Japanese (Japan) or Tagalog (the Philippines, Filipino) refugee students from foreign countries who struggle with English as a second language (ESL, EFL, ELL). These translation cards have the phrases and words in both English and the foreign language. And there is also a set of cards with English only, which can be used to help students transition away from translating once they become stronger in English. Welcome and help your new students feel at home, learn your daily routines and class schedules in your classroom and communicate more easily with these translations. The cards are in five categories:

• messages (welcome to the country, welcome to our school...)
• instructions (line up, sit down, find a partner...)
• subjects (social studies, music, science...)
• places (classroom, playground, home...)
• basics (yes, no, are you okay, toilet paper, pencil...)

These resources all contain the same 102 words and phrases. They are fantastic resources for you as a classroom teacher, support teacher, ESL teacher or school councilor.

The backs of the cards are included. You may also use some sets as the backs of other sets, or use the English only set as the backs of the cards; once a student feels stronger in English, he or she can flip over the card and see only the picture and English.

These translated phrases and words are helpful to have at the ready, to be able to communicate with your new students from other countries, who may be new arrivals or immigrants into the country.
