Description
This Kindergarten through 5th Grade Elementary Level Busy Artist Book can be used as either the students’ annual sketchbook or as a supplement for their regular sketchbook. The Busy Artist Book is great for classes where the lesson ends early and you need time to fill or if a class arrives before you have had enough time to adequately prepare and need to keep them busy for a few minutes.
This busy book bundle has 120 prompts, based on an average 36 week (180 day) American school year. There are 40 prompts in each busy book - the Kindergarten solo book, the combined 1st and 2nd Grade book and the combined 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade book. Based on the average of seeing most Elementary students once a week for their Art Class, you could technically use these busy books for every class with still a few prompts left over.
The prompts cover color and color mixing, shapes, lines, value, texture, portraits and face features, different drawing techniques, designs and patterns and critical thinking exercises. In addition to these the 1st and 2nd Grade busy book also covers portraits and proportion, genre sorting, size relationships and minor writing exercises. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade busy book also covers light sources, human figure drawing and proportion, foreground, middle ground and background exercises, and lengthier writing exercises. Some exercises repeat from the previous grade level's busy book to reiterate important core concepts.
Some of these prompts require extra materials. Do not rely on students to be self-starters as some students may require more direct instruction than others. Prompts are not necessarily meant to go in order but should be used as support for your lessons that you teach throughout the year.
These individual busy books are set-up in such a way to make double-sided printing easier.
