Description
This 6th, 7th and/or 8th Grade Busy Artist Book can be used as either the students’ annual sketchbook or as a supplement for their regular sketchbook. The Busy Artist Book is great to use as warm ups, exit slips, review of concepts or to fill a gap in time where starting a lesson becomes problematic.
This busy book has 90 prompts, based on an average (180 day) American school year. Based on the average of seeing most Middle School students for an entire semester/2 terms for their Art Class, you could technically use this busy book for every class.
The prompts cover color, value, texture, portraits and human figure proportion, genre sorting, size relationships, foreground, believable space techniques, art vocabulary, light sources, extensive observational drawing exercises, multiple critical thinking exercises and writing exercises that include compare/contrast of art historical examples, plagiarism cases, and narrative works of art. Some exercises repeat from the previous elementary grade level's busy book to reiterate important core concepts.
Some of these prompts require extra materials. Do not rely on students to be self-starters as some students may require more direct instruction than others. Prompts are not necessarily meant to go in order but should be used as support for your lessons that you teach throughout the year.
This book is set-up in such a way to make double-sided printing easier.
