Description
Flowers of the Victorian age were peppered with meaning. In this activity students will examine different flowers and their meanings and use the chart to do a fun drawing activity. Included: two different activities depending on your desired learning targets.
Activity #1: asks students to choose a pair of characters from TV, books or movies. (They do not have to be romantically involved. They just need to have a relationship.) Then, students use the chart to design/draw a bouquet that represents their relationship and write about their flower choices.
Activity #2: Students use the flower chart to draw a bouquet for someone that they care about, using the messaging found in Victorian flower symbols.
Whether you tie this to a larger lesson about symbolic interactionism, or just use it as a fun Valentine's break is up to you.
Included are: 2 pages of flowers and their meanings, two different assignment sheets, and two vase outlines for those who are shy about drawing.
