Description

Looking for a fun and engaging way to spend your reading time on Valentine's Day? Or maybe you're looking for something to get you through the month of February? Look no further than The Vanishing Valentines. This mystery is perfect for groups of students who will need to use their detective skills as they work to solve the mystery of the stolen valentines. With reading and language tasks included, this activity is perfect for a Fun Friday or any day during the month of February.

Clue #1 (shades of meaning) – Words have different “shades.” Instead of saying something is ugly, you might say hideous! Sort the cards to the correct word group. Whoever has the most words did NOT steal the valentines.

Clue #2 (vowel teams) – Vowel teams are vowels that work together to make one vowel sound. Sort the words to the correct person. Whoever has the most cards is not the valentine thief!

Clue #3 (reading comprehension) – Read the passage and crack the secret message! Use the hint to figure out what the message says. The answer will tell you someone who did NOT take the valentines.

Clue #4 (consonant blends) – Consonant blends can be at the beginning or end of a word. Sort the words to the correct person. Whoever has the most words is NOT the culprit.

Clue #5 (homophones) – Consonant blends can be at the beginning or end of a word. Sort the words to the correct person. Whoever has the most words is NOT the culprit.
