If you read Our Class is a Family at the beginning of the school year, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to review and reflect on your classroom friendships. Any other Valentine's Day book about friendships works as well! This activity includes an original Valentine's Day Friendship Poem. As students read the poem they add ingredients to their Valentine Friendship Trail Mix. After making the trail mix, students enjoy the snack and use the poem to explain the meaning of each ingredient. Last, students complete a quick heart or school house craft and write three things they LOVE about their classroom family.
To complete this activity you will need pretzels, M&Ms, marshmallows, animal crackers, and sprinkles.
