Description

This 13 slide Smart Lesson is designed to teach how to use unit rate to compare real life examples of rate. It includes a warm up, orientation example, vocabulary, real world unit rate discussion, 5 real world comparisons to determine the better buy, and group activity directions. Teacher directions on the first slide explain how to teach this lesson that will take at least one class period. Answers are also provided. I have used this with both 6th and 7th grade math classes.

*Please make sure you have Smart Notebook Software before purchasing!*

Solve unit rate problems including those involving unit pricing and constant speed. For example, if it took 7 hours to mow 4 lawns, then at that rate, how many lawns could be mowed in 35 hours? At what rate were lawns being mowed?
