Unit 8 - THE LAWS OF MOTION: NGSS Aligned PHYSICS for THE MIDDLE GRADES (Vol. 2)

GRADES (6-8): Volume Two - Basic Physical Science includes four comprehensive 40-50 minutes lessons on THE LAWS OF MOTION. In addition to an instructive and visually engaging lesson-by-lesson powerpoint presentation, every activity comes complete with student worksheets, a teacher preparation and lesson implementation guide, quizzes and a unit review test complete with answers. These fun multimodal activities are designed to keep students engaged and thinking, focussed on practicing, and ready to retrieve what they have learned from this basic introduction to Newtonian classical mechanics.

During the course of instruction, students will learn to (1) identify the variables that determine the inertia and momentum of objects before deriving a mathematical formula to help calculate momentum, (2) identify the variables that determine the force applied to objects in order to derive a mathematical formula for the calculation of force, (3) solve problems relating to the momentum, force, mass, and acceleration of objects using Newton's First and Second Laws of Motion, and (4) design a demonstration that illustrates Newton's Third Law of Motion in action.
