Description

This file shows examples of decorated Ukranian Easter eggs. This is a great lesson for showing the use of lines and shapes. You can have students create their own designs on real boiled eggs, plastic Easter eggs, cardboard eggs (from JoAnn, Michaels, etc.), or paper.

Kindergarteners can select crayons based on color symbolism to create their designs, while older children can work the picture symbols into their designs, too.

This was set up as a Montessori work for the children to study and complete individually. You can use this in a similar manner or as your own reference when teaching this cultural lesson. This is a great activity in conjunction with reading "Rechenka's Eggs" by Patricia Polacco. Or, give a copy to parents as a spring break activity they can do with their children!
