There are Three Main Activities:
Vocabulary:
Introduce and review the vocabulary words using the colorful vocabulary posters with real-life photos. These posters are excellent for bulletin boards too! Have students cut, glue, and define the vocabulary words using the flip flaps.
Reading:
Read the passages about each river and mountain chain. Have students complete the comprehension questions and graphic organizers for each passage. Students will enjoy meeting John Muir, an important environmentalist.
Activities:
There are several hands-on activities to reinforce learning. You can use them in a learning station, for centers, as homework, or to review at the end of the unit.

If time is limited, you could have each group study and learn about one of the U.S. Landforms and then share their findings with the class.
