Two-Step Equations (NOT a Scavenger Hunt) QUOTE WALL

Solve two-step equations posted around the room? Yep. Activity self-checks? Yep. But it’s not a scavenger hunt? Right, aren’t you ready to change things up? Introducing the Two-Step Equations Quote Wall --all the features that you love about a scavenger hunt but different.

Student pairs solve the 2-step equations in ANY ORDER. All solutions are integers from -6 to 8. Students record the letters from each equation card next to their solution on a specially set-up notebook paper.

While monitoring the room, the teacher-extraordinaire can give timely feedback with only a quick glance at a student’s answer sheet. When finished, students will be surprised to see the letters string together to form a life quote from Dr. Suess. (Because the words are chopped up strategically, students don’t see the message right before their eyes while solving 2-step equations.)

An alternate worksheet for absent or ornery students is included. (More problems/no message)
