Description

Search Christmas Homophones in Twas the Night Before Christmas. An engaging holiday activity searching for homonyms and homophones in a crazy homophone version of the famous Christmas poem "The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Clark Moore. Fun printable handout or digital resource for December. Supports Common Core State Standards - spell correctly and identify frequently and commonly confused words. CCSS L 4.1g, L 5.2e, L. 6.2b. Challenging, fun and engaging activity finding homophones in poetry. Great to use the week before the winter holiday break. Best with partners. It takes students some time to find and correct all of the incorrect homonyms. No PREP. Student answer sheets and answer key included. Has black and white versions for easy ink-friendly printing, a shorter version for differentiation, and a copy of the original poem. Digital and Print: Includes an Easel Activity ready for learning with digital tools. Assign it in Google Classroom or use a link in any LMS. Select the pages to use and add your own directions or notes! Helps with remote teaching. 29 pages including the 7 ready-made digital Easel pages. Access Easel Activities on the product page or in My Purchases after purchase. See full preview.

Includes two printable versions -

You may print out a class set of the poem handout (2 pages) and the student answer sheet (1 page) for each student. They can work on it in groups, with partners, or individually.

OR

Some teachers like to do this Christmas activity in smaller chunks. You can print out the six sheets with lines of the poem and answer blanks and use as worksheets or daily warm-ups for six different days. The same key works for both versions. Also has a quick worksheet for identifying homophones in common Christmas carols. It can be a quick assessment to see if your students got it or if they need more practice. I hope your students enjoy this resource as much as my students did. Note: it’s so fun (and challenging enough) that you can even print it out and use as a holiday party game! Merry Christmas!
