What educators are saying

I found this resource to be very organized. It covered all transformation topics well. Unfortunately, our 8th graders found it to be pretty difficult and required assistance. Could try again after they are given more instruction.

How this Transformational Geometry Game Works:

You will be provided with a link to copy the Google Form™ Escape Room to your own Google Drive™.

Share the link to your copy of the Google Form™ with your students.

On the Google Form™ students will use the provided clue images & their transformational geometry knowledge to guess "lock combinations." A detailed PDF with "lock combination" answer key is included in the download.

Before progressing to the next clue, students are required to enter the correct "combination" in the form.

Verify experimentally the properties of rotations, reflections, and translations:
Describe the effect of dilations, translations, rotations, and reflections on two-dimensional figures using coordinates.
Represent transformations in the plane using, e.g., transparencies and geometry software; describe transformations as functions that take points in the plane as inputs and give other points as outputs. Compare transformations that preserve distance and angle to those that do not (e.g., translation versus horizontal stretch).
Given a geometric figure and a rotation, reflection, or translation, draw the transformed figure using, e.g., graph paper, tracing paper, or geometry software. Specify a sequence of transformations that will carry a given figure onto another.
Use geometric descriptions of rigid motions to transform figures and to predict the effect of a given rigid motion on a given figure; given two figures, use the definition of congruence in terms of rigid motions to decide if they are congruent.
