Description

This 2 page worksheet on Figurative Language in Jack London's short story "To build a Fire" has 2 parts. The first part lists the 11 examples found in the story: Parallel Structure, Personification, Alliteration, Apostrophe, Metaphor, Simile, Classical Allusion, Contrast Foreshadowing, Onomatopoeia, & Repetition, and the students must match these to their definitions. Part 2 has 40 direct quotations that contain the 11 different examples of figurative language, and the students must identify them. This can be given as homework or as an in-class assignment. An answer KEY is provided.
