What educators are saying

I was so excited to use this! I started creating time capsules for my kiddos and will give them to them when they are a senior!
My 5th grade students loved this activity. I used it with them at the end of our school year last year. They enjoyed all the pages that I decided to do. I even added a group photo to each of their time capsules.

Description

Want to give your students a memorable and unique experience at the end of the year? This Time Capsule Project comes in a print and digital version and includes everything you need to lead your class through this end of the year (or beginning of the year) activity. Your students will love creating this Time Capsule to be opened when they graduate from high school!

I really enjoy doing this time capsule with my students! It’s a great activity to do during the last week or two when most kids have shut down for the year. This is an extremely motivating project and it has a purpose…a keepsake of memories and thoughts of the year and a reason to write… to create your own time capsule that you'll be able to open and read in the future! Lots of fun.

This project contains: Print and Digital (UK, Canada, Australia, Versions too)

I have done time capsules at the end of the year quite a few times now. It all started when my son (now in his 20’s) brought one home in 5th grade and then opened it after high school graduation. It was so much fun and such a meaningful thing to share with him, that it motivated me to create something similar for my students.

In this time capsule project, I really love how each handout gives information about the child, from tracing the handprint, to cutting a piece of string as tall as the child, to listing current favorites (bound to change by high school graduation) and more!

I especially like the letter-writing activity. It not only reviews the parts of a friendly letter (including two different templates for the classic or modern letter writing styles) but really taps into the child’s personality at this point in time. There are detailed notes that will guide your students to create this special “Dear Future Me” letter. The letter could be simple of course, or even a 3 - 5 paragraph letter, depending upon the age and ability of your students.

I am super excited to share this end of the year time capsule project with you. I hope it’s something that will become a tradition in your classroom and that you enjoy it year after year!
