Description
This song was written in response to a classroom of children that I was teaching during a thunder-storm. Many young children are afraid of thunder storms. This song helps provide a sense of control, because the children know when the thunder is coming in the song, and are making the sounds themselves. It is also an exploration of loud and quiet and how that expresses in our bodies.
Thunder in the sky goes boom boom boom…stomp your feet
Lightning from the sky goes zoom zoom zoom....make flashing movements with your hands
Raindrops from the sky goes drip drip drop…tap your fingers quietly together
My heart beat goes flip flip flop...gently tap your heart
Lightning is so scary, lighting up the rooms... flashing hands again
Then we hear the thunder making all those booms...stomp your feet
The sky is full of clouds, the rain begins to fall... tap fingers again
Thunder makes that great big noise…. stomp feet again
