How to use this resource:

Teacher Guide

Each interactive read aloud includes a teacher's guide that outlines the lesson. It provides an introduction to help prepare your students for their learning and set a purpose for the read aloud. It also includes important vocabulary words and the strands that the lesson covers.

Anchor Chart

The anchor chart is an engaging, interactive way to discuss the social skill as a whole class. I recommend that you re-create the anchor chart with your students during the lesson. You could even create an interactive anchor chart with your class. However, you could also just print out the chart!

Talking Points

There are higher level thinking questions and talking points to prompt student discussion. Each one has a page number so that you know exactly where in the story to stop!

These will guide students to deepen their understanding of the the social skill and respond in meaningful ways. These questions can be printed out on a one page guide or on sticky notes, which will allow you to place them right in the book!

Student Response

The interactive read aloud also comes with a written response and activity sheet to really help your students connect with the text and build their knowledge on the social skill. There are multiple response sheets that allow for differentiation. An answer key is also provided for your reference.

Craftivity

The craftivity provides a hands-on, engaging component to help students practice the social skill. It helps connect the focus to the picture book and to students' lives.

Task Cards

The task cards can be used a few different ways. the cards could be used orally as a whole class discussion or in small groups. Students could also respond to the task cards individually on the recording sheet that is included.

The task cards provide scenarios or thought-provoking questions to help students apply the social skill to their own life.
