Description

"Their Eyes Were Watching God" Test

This is a test, study guide, and answer key for Zora Neale Hurston's novel "Their Eyes Were Watching God."

Test

The test is 8 pages with 60 multiple-choice questions. The questions are mixed up between text-based questions and beyond-the-text analytical questions that require higher order thinking skills.

This test is divided into two parts: General Knowledge Questions and Beyond-text Questions.

The section on general knowledge contains 31 questions straight from the text, also known as questions within the text. They are factual answers to questions about elements in the novel.

The next sections has 29 questions. These questions are beyond-text and about-the-text questions that require higher order thinking skills, or HOTS. Students will have to infer, synthesize, and analyze during this section.

The test is written in 2-column format and is 8 pages.

Grade Level

This test is designed to challenge high school students in 11th or 12th grades. For 9th and 10th grades, I would edit the test, reducing the number of questions and/or possibly reducing the number of possible answers to choose from. (The test does come in Word.) However, for a 10th-grade honors or advanced class, I would leave the test as is.

Test Answer Key

The answer key is written in 2-column format and is 9 pages.

The correct answer is in bold for each question, which will make it easy for you to see the questions, all answers to choose from, as well as the correct answers.

Study Guide

A 2-page study guide for the test will help students prepare for the test, letting students know exactly what they need to know.

Word and PDF

All documents come in Word and in PDF; therefore, there are 38 total pages.

Since all documents come in Word, you may edit them in any manner you choose.

Test Length

The test should take the average student about 40 to 50 minutes to complete, while students who excel may complete it in 30 to 40 minutes.
