The ULTIMATE musical instrument soundboard is designed to introduce students to 6 different instrument families and 173 unique musical instruments from all around the world!
With clickables and easy to use navigation within the google slides presentation, this soundboard activity allows students to explore new sounds at their own pace individually, in small groups, or as a full class activity.
The google slide presentation includes 11 clickable soundboard in total. Students will learn instruments from:
- the woodwind family- western music woodwind instruments
- the woodwind family- woodwinds from around the world
- the brass family- western music brass instruments
- the brass family- brass from around the world
- the string family- western music string instruments
- the string family- strings from around the world
- the percussion family- western music percussion instruments
- the percussion family- percussion from around the world

- the keyboard family- keyboards from around the world
- the electronic instrument family
Each soundboard includes:
- A slide introducing need-to-know info and history of each instrument family preceding its matching soundboards.
- instrument names
- instrument picture
- clickable sound on the picture
- links to home page and quiz page
- instruments from around the world soundboards include each instrument's country or region of origin.
Two quiz pages (12 critical thinking and exploratory question total) are included at the back of the presentation. Simply print these pages out to allow students to write in answers by hand, or use a class journal for writing assignments. Answer keys are included for students to self check.
This resource can be used as a short-term classroom activity, or something that can be used as a reference tool or music centers activity all year long. Students can combine sounds to hear how different instruments blend together, and it can also be used as a tool for other music activities to give students more exposure to instrument sounds and increase knowledge retention.
