Description
This engaging and fun game demonstrates very clearly the concept of the "Tragedy of the Commons" in a fun game followed by a quick class slides presentation. The product includes the class slides that walk the class through the simulation, a teacher instructions guide, a student worksheet for following along with the game, and a pdf print-out to create the "slips of paper" used in the simulation.
This game is a class favorite that creates a lasting memory of our inclination towards competition over cooperation and the ramifications that can have on our world and our politics.
The game instructions are as follows:
- Each round will last 20 seconds. We will play 5 rounds.
- Players may only grab one slip of paper at a time and return it to the pile in front of them, which is “safe” from being taken
- Players may not touch each other
- Players may only use one arm, and it must be their “non-dominant” hand.
- At the end of each round the amount of remaining pieces of paper will double. If there are no remaining slips of paper, the next round will start with 10.
