Description

Spark curiosity, imagination, and fun with fairy tale STEM! STEM tales use a fairy tale that your students are likely already familiar with - a twist is added into the story that introduces an engineering problem. Can your students help the three little pigs solve the problem in the story?

By adding in a story element, those students that might typically shy away from STEM activities may find joy in transporting themselves into a story to solve a problem. All students will follow the engineering design process in an age-appropriate way using the steps Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Improve.

A New House for Wolf

Your students will help the three little pigs create a new house for wolf! You'll have to read the story to find out why the pigs are helping wolf. Students will need to use basic measurement skills for this project (either estimating dimensions or measuring linear dimensions). You will need STEM building materials such as cardboard, tape, craft sticks, cereal boxes, or pipe cleaners. You will also need to provide a fan, preferably one that can blow straight up (such as a small desktop fan).
