The Spiderwick Chronicles Reading and Writing Movie Guide

This is a 1-2 week unit based on the movie by Nickelodeon Studios, The Spiderwick Chronicles written by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. The unit works with either time frame with enough activities to stretch 3 weeks. All activities and assessments are based on the movie version of this story. This is a wonderful end-of-year unit when schedules become slightly varied due to the many activities. It is extremely flexible for any teacher. You will need the movie to watch in class with your school's permissions to do so.

Included: Introductory activity, 4 writing task cards, 2 sets of character webs, mid-assessment, post-assessment, 4 activities correlated to the common core standards: summarizing, written response, supporting statements with evidence, and multimedia's effect on a storyline, 4 projects with templates: field guide, newspaper, graphic novel, and sequencing (rubric included for projects), comprehension card game, and creative writing activity.
