Students read the story independently or as a class and stop and jot answers to comprehension questions during reading. There are several big picture questions for students to complete after reading.
2.The Sniper: Figurative Language
Students close read different sections of ‘The Sniper” to identify figurative language and determine its purpose.
3. The Sniper: Writing Lesson
Students write two analytical paragraphs about how “The Sniper” addresses the complexities of war. One is written as a class and the other independently.There is a rubric included for the writing.
Each lesson has directions on the student handouts for each activity or part of the lesson. The text of the story is not included.
