Description

Want more bang for your buck? We know that one of the most difficult obstacles we have as teachers is time. How do you fit in novel studies, skill work, vocabulary instruction, and test prep? Our novel study fluency packs are the solution.

Each week, select one passage to focus on. You will use this passage not only to build fluency through daily, directed re-readings, you will also build your student’s background knowledge on topics that are relevant to The Secret Garden. The comprehension questions meet grade level standards while students get exposure and practice with common standardized test formatting.

In just 5-7 minutes per day, you can accomplish so much!

This fluency pack includes a grade-level appropriate article on these four topics:

  • Frances Hodgson Burnett
  • Cholera
  • English Moors
  • The Power of Positive Thinking

The Comprehension Check-in include Non-Fiction skills such as:

  • Main Ideas and supporting details
  • Summary
  • Author's purpose and text structure
  • Inference
  • Cause and Effect
  • Fact and Opinion
  • Non-fiction text features

Build students' Tier 2 vocabulary with 14 new words explicitly taught!
