    Description

    Generate thought-provoking class discussions and debates with our 2nd Amendment Conversation Starters as well as our 2nd Amendment Debate Package. Both resources offer a creative and engaging approach to opening a discussion on the topic of the Second Amendment in the middle/high school classroom.

    Our conversation starters packages encourage critical thinking and allow students to discuss topics that are both relevant and important to them while simultaneously increasing their vocabulary and ability to effectively express themselves. Our packages are extremely versatile and have been used as bell-ringers, as supplementary material for topics covered in class, in literature circles, as well as in socratic seminars.

    What's included in our 2nd Amendment Conversation Starters:

    • A list of 10 thought-provoking questions for middle/high school students on the subject of The 2nd Amendment
    • Activities to fill in before and after discussion (Ensuring students know what is expected of them and what constitutes an effective and productive discussion)
    • Useful expressions and transitions pages (Encouraging students to use and record a variety of useful expressions and transitional phrases to create an effective discussion)
    • Notes pages (Encouraging students to write notes throughout discussion)
    • New words and phrases pages (Encouraging students to record new vocabulary/phrases during discussion)
    • Essay writing pages (Lined pages should the teacher decide to use the discussion questions or quotes as writing prompts)
    • A student evaluation form for students to fill in after discussion (3-page detailed student reflection/evaluation form)

    Our debate packages encourage critical thinking and allow students to discuss topics that are both relevant and important to them. Students will be encouraged to develop their communication and debating skills, while opening their minds to different viewpoints.

    Each debate package covers and reinforces the five basic steps of the debating process: gathering information, exploring all sides of an issue, forming an initial opinion, defending the position in a debate and finally, refining your opinion through knowledge gained in the debate.

    • 20 debate topics on the subject of The 2nd Amendment
    • 2 pages of teaching instructions (4 different debate formats outlined)
