The Scarlet Cavern is a math-based adventure game in the same vein as Dungeons and Dragons, but extremely simplified and involves a lot less combat!
The purpose of this module is to introduce (or reinforce) problem-solving skills over a variety of math disciplines. However, that isn’t the be-all and end-all of the learning potential. ‘Playing’ this game teaches your students the value of cooperative learning, provides opportunities for your exceptional students to shine, and can also be used as a language learning tool. Along with the core math concepts, students can be encouraged to read the ‘narration’ out loud, and I have included some rhyme and alliteration to support your poetry lessons.
