Description

Introduce your students to the joy of helping others with The Scarecrow Book Companion Unit! Tailored specifically for first and second graders, this literacy unit makes learning fun and includes a range of activities. It begins with a lesson plan on using text evidence to support answers to questions about The Scarecrow read aloud. Students can then complete a fun activity where they walk around the classroom and read evidence from the text. Afterward, they'll engage in a text evidence match-up game that also includes a recording sheet. As the grand finale, kids will create a scarecrow craft and write a letter to squirrel based on the ending of The Scarecrow. This unit also comes with bonus activities such as story maps, color by codes, and instructions for making delicious scarecrow cookies.
