Description

Novel study and final book project for The One and Only Bob by Katherine Applegate - SK Design’s 3-dimensional Novel Studies provide unique and fun ways to study great novels while creating informative and unique novel projects for display at the end of the study. While traditional novel studies often focus on comprehension worksheets and quizzes, the focus of 3-D novel studies is creating three-dimensional representations of novels with faces that provide information about literary elements, details, authors’ craft, other important aspects of literature, and cross-curricular connections.

These novel studies engage students in reflection, close reading, visualization, inference, comprehension, finding text evidence, illustration, and composition.

Examples of study elements include the following as well as specific elements highlighted in individual titles:

The project is fun and versatile, allowing the teacher and/or students to select specific elements to include based on the novel study focus, student interest, reading levels, and time constraints. Rubrics are included for assessment and evaluation of each dodecahedron face allowing easy grading of the project if desired. The finished project makes an eye-catching and informative classroom display.
