I love this book and highly recommend it for a class novel study because of the creative thinking and cooperative learning it can promote!

  • This novel is appropriate for boys and girls. It is recommended for grades 3-4 and 8-12 year olds. These are suggested levels. I see it being used by 5th grade and 6th grade as well because of its relevance, themes, and wonderful cross-curricular applications.

  • This resource is great for classroom discussion, interdisciplinary study, literature circles, task cards, book clubs, comprehension checks, composition, critical thinking skill-building, book challenges, reflection journals, games, cooperative learning, and reading responses.

  • The enrichment/project activities included with this resource engage students in extended literary study, composition opportunities, and cross-curricular applications. These activities and projects are deliberately designed to be easy to implement, fun, and motivating while teaching and reinforcing important learning skills.

  • Answer keys are included for the questions and the activities.
