What educators are saying

This was such a fun activity that my 1st graders enjoyed doing while we studied this ballet! They loved taking it home to their parents.
My students loved creating their own nutcracker while watching the ballet! After students made the nutcracker, they were able to pretend to be Clara while navigating through a virtual field trip which engaged them in understanding the ballet.

Description

Students love the story of the Nutcracker. Included in this document is a re-telling of the story and a fun project! Students color and cut out a nutcracker doll, then glue him to an empty paper towel roll for a 3D nutcracker of their very own. This can easily be done in a 20 to 30-minute time period in school, but it is fun to give this as a take-home project so that students can use additional materials (sequins, beads, feathers, etc.) and bring back for a colorful display at school!
