The Most Epic, Not-Boring Summer Homework Ever
- Google Docs™
Description
We don't give summer homework in our district, and I feel good about that. I also want my kids to spend their summer learning, though--not just reading and playing math games, but living life and being a BUILDER (building knowledge, character, and community) to be a life-long learner! That's why I give this summer homework. It's voluntary, but I always give a little prize to anyone who completes at least 90% of it (usually about 3-4 kids from each class)...you could have a party just for them, give handmade/sentimental gifts, or whatever you feel like!
Some of the items among the 30 tasks include:
* Learn your emergency phone numbers and addresses.
* Create something amazing.
* Spend a whole day without any electronics.
* Apologize when you've hurt someone else's feelings.
* Write a list of at least 15 things you love about yourself.
* Go stargazing.
The list goes on--lots of character-building challenges, as well as seeking new knowledge and creating deeper friendships/family relationships!
