Description

Teach your students about the Luther Seal, a symbol of the Lutheran church and the Protestant Reformation, with this set of full-page Teaching Cards or Posters and Word Scavenger Hunt/Write the Room activities!

This resource includes: 6 full page cards/posters to teach each symbol of the Luther seal with pictures and Martin Luther's explanations of the meaning of each part of the seal; and two options for a Word Scavenger Hunt/ Write the Room activity in which students use picture clues from cards posted around the room to find and record the symbols of the Luther seal on a recording sheet. One version has pictures and labels only, and the other version includes additional cards with Martin Luther's explanations. A direction page for the activity for teachers is included.

The cards can be printed on cardstock and used as visuals during whole group or small group lessons, printed as posters to be displayed on a wall or bulletin board, or stapled or bound into a storybook for teachers to read aloud or students to read independently. The Word Hunt activity can be used as a follow up to the lesson.

A great resource for Christian classrooms, Sunday School, VBS, and Home Schools to enhance lessons about the Luther Seal, Martin Luther, Lutheranism, or the Protestant Reformation! Perfect for Reformation Day parties (October 31) or Lutheran Schools Week! Blessings on your learning!

Directions for word hunt activity: Each student needs a recording sheet, clipboard, and pencil. Following the direction at the top of the worksheet, they will first find the picture card with the cross at the top. They will write the word “black cross” from the box on the card. Depending on the age/abilities of your students, you can have the students read Luther’s explanation of each symbol during the hunt or read them together at the end of the hunt with the teacher. Older student helpers or parent volunteers could also assist younger students in reading the explanations – great for multi-age classrooms, Vacation Bible School, or Reformation Day parties!
