This editable slideshow focuses on some of the memorials and tributes honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., including: the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Non-Violent Social Change in Atlanta, GA, the campaign to establish a national holiday in honor of MLK as well as opposition to it and the meaning and purpose of the holiday; the inspiration/story behind U2s Pride (In the Name of Love) as well as its interpretive message/meaning, a hyperlink to the official music video featuring the song tribute, and an ordeal the band faced during their Joshua Tree concert tour; and the creation, meaning, purpose, significance, and inspiration behind the MLK Memorial in the National Mall in Washington, D.C., including a hyperlink to a short video covering the monument, a brief profile of the artist(s) behind its creation, the connection between King, Lincoln, and Jefferson, as well as how that connection is displayed in the location of the 3 monuments erected in their honor/memory in the National Mall; a hyperlink to a video covering the March on Washington as well as King delivering his I Have a Dream speech, and the major provisions of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that was passed after/as a result of the march.
