Description

A character Oscar Wilde forgot to mention in The Importance of Being Earnest gives her own batty synopsis of the goings on in the play.
Original script by Liquorice Allsorts

This piece is proposed as a humorous ice-breaker for any group of students about to study the play, The Importance of Being Earnest. It can also be used as Listening Comprehension for ESL / EFL students.

This is a 42 second audio recording of an original comic character monologue portrayal of an imagined sister of Lady Bracknell speaking about the main theme of the play. The famous "handbag" is referred to and there are other British idiomatic expressions such as "shenanigans" and "up her sleave". It is verily batty and British, in keeping with the style and tone of early 20th century upper-class nonsense.

Liquorice Allsorts is available for any requests for audio readings of literary extracts or custom recordings of original materials.
