Who doesn't love Shel Silverstein's beloved book The Giving Tree? The Giving Tree activities include literacy and economic social studies activities. It helps first grade kids practice retelling, sequencing and identifying the moral or life lesson of the story.
The Giving Tree is also a great social studies content book for learning economic concepts like scarcity, choice, opportunity cost and resources. I love using this book around Christmastime to launch a class giving project!
