★Answer Key

The Plot Diagram is an organizational tool focusing on a pyramid or triangular shape, which is used to map the events in a story. This mapping of plot structure allows readers and writers to visualize the key features of stories.

Pass out scissors and glue/tape -coloring is optional, I prefer the color due to it optimizes the viewing and recalling skills in our students.
Allow your students to use the text and unit materials to complete the diagram puzzle.

Plot diagram foldable -Color each category a different color. Cut out the foldable. Fold along the dotted line. Cut along category lines to create your flap. Under each flap write your guided notes for the plot diagram. Attach it to the left side of your notebook.

Instruction/ facilitation:
Using the plot diagram structure attach the pieces to the graphic organizer in the correct spaces at which they appear in the story.
You can implement this handout as an interactive notebooking activity or it can stand alone.

Print in color or gray scale. White paper or color paper.
Great alternative to the run-of-the-mill plot diagram. Students will practice reading / summarization skills, recalling details, writing and inference skills And everything will be in this one packet! Great for Center Task / Differentiation -Fast Finishers and Review.

FOR INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOKS -To create pages for an interactive notebook, reduce print size to 75% or 80%
